Therefore He is able also to save forever (completely, perfectly, for eternity) those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede and intervene on their behalf [with God]. Hebrews 7:25 AMP
The other day I was praying for a difficult situation my friend was facing. Right in the middle of my prayer, this verse came to my mind–only it was the NKJV–he ever liveth to make intercession for you. My heart sort of leapt at this reminder. Jesus is joining His prayers with my puny ones! That wonderful reminder brought peace, hope and encouragement to me that day. This is why we have the wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit, to remind us what we may have momentarily forgot!
So with that in mind, I looked at other scriptures dealing with Him and His intercession. If you are currently fighting condemnation, take a moment to read through this scripture. Who is the one who condemns us? Christ Jesus is the One who died [to pay our penalty], and more than that, who was raised [from the dead], and who is at the right hand of God interceding [with the Father]for us. Romans 8:34. Amp We are reminded of Jesus love and care for His friend, Peter. Simon, Simon (Peter), listen! Satan has demanded permission to sift [all of] you like grain; but I have prayed [especially] for you [Peter], that your faith [and confidence in Me] may not fail; and you, once you have turned back again [to Me], strengthen and support your brothers [in the faith]. Luke 22: 31-32. Amp
Jesus prayed that Satan’s purpose would not succeed. He wanted to cause Peter to fail so badly that he quit following the Lord. If we find ourselves in a similar situation, we can know He is already praying for us. Peter did go ahead and deny the Lord, but He also came back and strengthened and supported his fellow disciples. My friends, this is just a small reminder that no matter what you are facing, Jesus is not only “with” you, He is praying for you. A simple, but powerful reminder that Christianity is more than a religion, it is a relationship.
Father, thank you for continuing to be with us. Your care, love and grace extends beyond preparing a place for us in eternity. You are not only strengthening us as we walk this earth, you are praying for our success! Such a kind and caring Father, who lets us make mistakes, helps us through them and uses them to help others! In Jesus’ Name, amen.
